Avondale schools are invited to participate in the annual School Spirit Holiday Food Drive, running November 2 through December 6, 2026. Hosted by the Avondale Youth Advisory Commission and Neighborhood & Family Services Department, the friendly competition supports St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance and helps combat hunger in the South West Valley.
Schools are encouraged to collect non-perishable food items. Participating schools will receive certificates, and the three schools with the most donations will earn trophies.
Most-needed items include: cereal, cereal bars, canned fruits and vegetables, rice, beans, pasta, canned tuna, chicken, ham and salmon, juice, peanut butter, baking mixes, crackers, hot chocolate mix, jelly or jam, tomato products, and cooking oil.
