Title I
The purpose of Title I is to “provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education and to close the educational achievement gaps.” (Every Student Succeeds Act, 2015)
Title I provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEA)—who have a high percentage of children from low-income families—to ensure that all children at the preschool, elementary, and secondary school levels receive a high quality, well-rounded education. Title I programs provide support to students to achieve the state’s academic standards. This gets accomplished through supplemental programs that consist of instructional services, instructional support services, school-wide reform efforts, and increased involvement of parents in their children’s education.
